Alderley Dental’s Modern Dental Technologies

We use modern dental technologies to provide the highest quality care available. At Alderley Dental, our focus is on providing you with the most reliable, predictable and long-lasting dental care possible for beautiful, long-term results.

We want you to be well informed about every facet of your dental care options and use technology to explain your conditions and treatment options by showing you what we see.

For that reason, we use some of the latest, state-of-the-art dental technologies available.

Modern dental technologies also have a number of other advantages such as reducing or eliminating pain, increasing understanding and sharing of your ‘behind-the-scenes’ dental situation.

Intraoral Camera

These tools are a great way to see exactly what is going on inside your mouth. An intraoral video camera is a tool that we utilise on a regular basis. It is proving to be an excellent tool for both our dentists and our patients love it too!

Roughly the size of a pen, this piece of invaluable technology allows us to view broken or cracked fillings, potential periodontal or gum problems, and small tooth imperfections.

It even gives us a comforting or non-invasive way of viewing the back of your mouth and up-close view of your teeth.

See for Yourself and Understand Fully

Our use of the intraoral camera gives us the capability to view a tooth magnified up to 25 times its normal size and basically give you a 'tour' of the inside of your mouth.

Our dentists can show you exactly what they see, so you have a better understanding of your needs and treatment options.

Early Detections and Treatment

The intraoral camera is critical in detecting a problem at the early stages, which is always positive, and generally allows for easier treatment. The full-colour images provide you and your dentist with a detailed assessment, allowing you to make informed decisions about treatment options and care.

CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns

Advances in dental technologies are ones that patients don’t often realise they are receiving.

Meanwhile, dentists will only just confuse and lose patients if they try to explain.

One of the modern dental technology innovations that is worth talking about is CEREC.

This is because of the enormous benefits it offers us as dentists and you, our patients.

Before CEREC – The Patient Experience

In the past, if you visited the dentist for a crown, inlay, onlay or veneer, then this would undoubtedly involve numerous visits to the dentists so that they could take impressions and send models out to have these restorations made. Then back to the dentist when they were ready and more needles to fit the dental restoration to your tooth.

Nowadays – It Is Easier for All Involved

Alderley Dental has the innovative CEREC 3-D machine, which makes these custom ceramic restorations onsite and at the time of your visit!

We bet that you can easily find as many friends and family who like the sound of coming to the dentist less frequently with less drilling, needles and time in the chair.

How Does the CEREC Technology Work?

First, we will use a special 3-D camera to take a picture of your tooth that needs to be restored. This is transferred to our computer where we use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to design your restoration.

This design is then sent to the high-accuracy CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology to create your ceramic dental restoration while you wait! The final step is when we bond this new restoration to the surface of your tooth. The whole process can now take as short as two hours as opposed to a couple of weeks.

Digital Dental X-Rays

The days of waiting for x-ray film to develop are over. Digital x-rays allow our dentists to capture x-ray images of your mouth, offering several benefits:

  • There is less radiation with digital x-rays
  • Low radiation level
  • High-resolution images
  • Digital transferable and storable data

Digital x-rays, also called digital radiographs, allow our dentists to see more detail in the structure of your teeth and mouth, which in turn allows for greater accuracy when performing dental repairs.

The Benefits of Digital X-Rays for You

Digital x-rays are also much safer for patients as their radiation exposure is reduced by up to 90 per cent. The images are saved digitally on our computer, which allows for instantaneous retrieval and storage with your patient file over the long term.

If required, sending your x-ray images to other dental specialists is quick and easy.

Televisions in Rooms

Because many people are afraid or nervous about their trips to the dental clinic, we provide treatment room televisions as a nice distraction while we look after your smile. You are welcome to watch a favourite programme or movie and relax while we take care of your smile.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Don't let dental anxiety keep you from having the necessary dental care you need for a healthy smile. At our Alderley dental clinic, we offer nitrous oxide sedation as a way to take the fear out of your dental appointment. Nitrous oxide, or happy gas, is a safe and effective way to administer a sedative that will reduce anxiety and create a sense of wellbeing. It is blended with oxygen and delivered through a small nose mask throughout your procedure. It wears off within minutes, which means you will not need someone to drive you home from your dental appointment.
